Sirus Automotive recently launched our second Passenger Up Front Vehicle solution – the Volkswagen Caddy ‘U-Can’. This vehicle allows the wheelchair user to travel up front next to the driver yet from the comfort of your own chair. Being a much more sociable way of traveling, you can actually see what the driver sees!
Design
The Caddy offers all of the benefits of a compact vehicle conversion. Not only is it economical, you will have no problems parking – you don’t even need a disabled access space as you enter the vehicle from the rear as opposed to the side. The vehicle also offers an internal transfer, ideally suited for individuals who travel solo and wish to eliminate the risks and strains which can be encountered with an external transfer. Also an internal transfer option takes the inconvenience out of transferring when it’s raining for example.
Further more, if you use a mobility scooter for outings you can also benefit from either an internal transfer if you are less able bodied, or for transporting scooter and chair combinations. The car can also be set up to carry two wheelchair users in tandem safely.
