Sirus Automotives ‘U-Can’ Passenger Up Front vehicle is a unique conversion which allows the wheelchair user to travel up front next to the driver yet from the comfort of your own chair.

Being a much more sociable way of travelling, you can actually see what the driver sees!

The Sirus ‘U-Can’ is based on the 1.6 Turbo Diesel 7 speed DSG Automatic Caddy MPV. The new Euro 5 engine offering fuel efficiency of up to 54mpg and Low CO² emissions 149 g/km. As standard the vehicle provides power steering, climatic air conditioning, electric windows, electric heated mirrors, RDS Radio with CD player, body coloured bumpers & mirrors and 15” alloy wheels. Re-designed stylish front end, black roof bars as standard and new range of vibrant colours.

Features of the conversion

As standard, the vehicle offers one wheelchair space plus two seats and the option of securing a 2nd wheelchair in the rear. We can also provide as an optional extra up to two fold down seats in the rear giving you space for up to 5 people.

Entering and exiting the vehicle

Full remote control of the rear end means you open the vehicle remotely to allow the tailgate to lift and ramp deploy whilst you make your way to the car. From here you can enter straight into the U-Can, close the vehicle (again remotely) and begin your journey to wherever you desire. The driver will have no problems parking; you enter the vehicle from the rear as opposed to the side therefore you don’t need a disabled parking space!

Lowering suspension

The U-Can has lowering rear suspension which means that once the ramp is deployed, you have a much lower floor entry point and a shallower ramp angle.

Internal transfer

The vehicle also offers an internal transfer solution, ideal for individuals who travel Independently and wish to eliminate the risks and strains which can be encountered with an external transfer. The vehicle can also take the inconvenience out of transferring whilst it’s raining for example. Further more, if you use a mobility scooter for outings you can also benefit from either an internal transfer if you are less able bodied, or for transporting scooter and chair combinations.

More economical options now available

Sirus has recently launched two alternative options – if you do not require a fully automated tailgate and ramp, we can now offer a manual opening and closing mechanism, which is more affordable than the powered option. The spring assisted ramp is lightweight and extremely easy to open and close. We can now also offer a manual gearbox option. Please call us to discuss your individual requirements.

Sirus can offer you various wheelchair locking systems. A manual tie down system which is more economical, alternatively if you want the luxury of locking down at the push of a button we can fit a fully automated crash tested device. Once in position, your wheelchair will automatically be locked into place and quickly released.

Dock ‘N’ Lock An innovative system which is neat and compact and for powerchairs of up to 200kg.

What’s the maximum number of people within the car?

There are various configurations possible:
a. Wheelchair passenger up front, driver and one rear passenger seat.(as standard)
b. You can also have a tie down system fitted in the rear meaning you would have space for 4 people.
c. you can have 1 or 2 additional fold down seats fitted into the vehicle at an additional cost. The vehicle can then offer you space for up to 5 people, one wheelchair user, plus space for an additional 4 people.

How long will I have to wait for a vehicle?

As our vehicles are especially ordered from VW, we estimate you will wait 12-16 weeks for your vehicle. However if you are not particular about colour, we have a number of vehicles you can have in as little as 6-8 weeks. (depending on adaptations).
