In June 2012 Sirus launched the Fiat ‘Future’, which is the lowest priced wheelchair passenger up front vehicle on the market. Kerry Lloyd, a Sirus customer tells us about her experience being able to travel up front next to the driver from the comfort of her wheelchair…

The Fiat Future is based on the Euro 5 Fiat Qubo MyLife – is available in both a manual gearbox, 1.4 petrol engine and automatic diesel 1.3 engine. As standard the vehicle provides power steering, air conditioning, electric front windows, body coloured bumpers & electrically adjustable heated door mirrors, trip computer, remote central locking,16” alloy wheels, radio with CD player, 40W Hi-Fi sound system, 4 speakers, Electronic stability control as standard (ESP),instrument panel with multifunctional display, MP3 file reader with USB port. Fiats Eco Drive System is designed to help you monitor your economy and emissions. Co2 emissions – 107g/km, extremely economical – 66.8 mpg combined (auto gearbox and diesel engine) 42.8mpg (Manual gearbox and petrol engine)

Benefits of the conversion

As standard the conversion offers space for the wheelchair user to travel up front next to the driver, and a standard driver’s seat. The conversion is designed to give maximum height and space inside the vehicle. The vehicle has a very short overhang, therefore you should experience less issues with speed bumps.

Entering and exiting the vehicle

You enter and exit the vehicle from the rear. The ramp is assisted by springs, ensuring minimal effort when opening and closing. You then manoeuvre straight into the up front passenger position, and we can offer both manual and automatic wheelchair locking restrains. Automatic tailgate and ramp is also an option if required.

Seat capacity

As standard the vehicle provides space for two people; the wheelchair passenger and driver. As an optional extra we can fit a fold down seat in the rear, which can accommodate two additional passengers.

We can provide a broad range of driving aids which makes driving possible for individuals who may not have previously considered it an option; from simple push / pull hand controls to full joystick operation. Once you have decided on the exact specification you would like, your vehicle will then be tailor made to your exact requirements.

Sirus can offer you various wheelchair locking systems.

Fully automated crash tested devices offer you complete independence and ease – once in position, your wheelchair will automatically be locked into place and released with a simple push of a button. Alternatively you can choose a manual tie down system, or a combination of both if you plan to travel in both positions.

As our vehicles are especially ordered from Fiat, we estimate you will wait 12-16 weeks for your vehicle. However if you are not particular about colour, we have a number of vehicles you can have in as little as 6-8 weeks. (depending on adaptations).
