Our history

Sirus was established in 2004 with a vision to design high quality, innovate products, backed up by unrivalled after sales service. We designed the most affordable, compact drive from wheelchair vehicle on the market. Based on the Renault Kangoo, this revolutionised the industry for independent wheelchair accessible vehicle solutions.

The success of this vehicle conversion laid the foundations for the years to come and the innovative products which followed. Our range of wheelchair accessible vehicles expanded to include the UK’s most affordable and fuel-efficient wheelchair passenger up front conversion, and uniquely designed self-lifting ramp. We have recently launched our 15th vehicle conversion, the revolutionary side entry Ford Tourneo Connect for both wheelchair drivers and upfront passengers.

In 2009 we were awarded the Queens Award for Enterprise in the category of innovation and received the honour from Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

Our values at Sirus are apparent through everything we do…

We provide excellent customer service and continually design innovative products with exceptional, industry-leading quality.
  • We listen
Customer feedback is important to us; we react quickly, and always do our very best for each and every customer.
  • One team
We are passionate, enthusiastic and work closely as a team. After spending time with us, many of our customers refer to us as the ‘Sirus family’.

Product quality and innovation

All vehicle conversions produced by Sirus are manufactured to the highest standard. We take a fresh approach to vehicle conversions with the designs ensuring an excellent level of quality. Sirus’ choice of premium materials gives your conversion a high-quality finish.

Sirus place huge emphasis on new product development and produce innovative, pioneering products, whilst continually refining our existing range. We have a dedicated Research and Development team led by company founder Simon Pearson.

We are proud to have achieved ISO9001 in 2017. This quality standard ensures we have rigorous processes in place throughout the business which cover conformity, quality, build processes, purchasing, through to sales processes, recruitment and training.

Vehicle type approval

All Sirus vehicles have Type Approval from the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA). This provides internationally recognised testing and certification for vehicles and is the confirmation that all products meet specified performance standards. At Sirus we have 3 different Type Approvals:

National Small Series Type Approval (NSSTA)

Which is a UK national scheme, and applies to all Volkswagen conversions.

European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval (ECWVTA)

This certification is accepted throughout the EU and applies to the
Ford conversion.

Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA)

A UK national scheme which applies to our Volkswagen Caddy manual gearbox options and the Fiat Qubo conversion.

Sirus Sponsor Midlands League Powerchair Football Cup

Sirus Automotive was delighted to sponsor the Midlands Powerchair League Cup on Sunday 10th March in Birmingham. The event saw 10 clubs from around the region compete in the end of season cup, with a presentation to honour this season’s heroes.

Simon Pearson, Sirus Managing Director commented “We are really pleased to be supporting such a great sport, especially on a local level and we are delighted to see the sport go from strength to strength. Powerchair Football provides sporting opportunities for people with high-level impairment. At Sirus we design and manufacture vehicle conversions for people who drive from their wheelchair, or remain in their wheelchair whilst travelling, so many of our customers play the sport”.

Sophie Mills, Team Leader from Sirus was there on the day to show our Sirus Ford Drive / Upfront conversion which was really popular with many of the players. “We were delighted to be able to support such an exciting sport and to watch the teams in action. The Ford and VW conversions by Sirus can comfortably transport a Strike Force Powerchair, so we know they work really well together”.

Paul Hunt, West Midlands Powerchair Regional League Chairman said: “We are really grateful to Sirus for their support in sponsoring our end of season Cup, it’s been great working with the Sirus team and our players can’t thank you enough”.
